Earth Shoes.
Not long ago, I picked up a pair of Earth Shoes for a song. I took them home, walked around in them, but found they made this awful, rude-sounding suction-y sound with every step. I chucked 'em in the back of the closet and thought I'd put them on Ebay.
While I love socks, in Southern California I wear them for maybe two weeks out of every year, tops. But this past weekend - duh! - it occurred to me to try these shoes with sock liners. And voila - no more rude sounds! I've been wearing them for the past three days and loving every minute of it.
I am, of course, obsessed now and want a pair in every color. Again, Online Shoes seems to have the best prices, and sometime soon I hope to pick up a pair of the same style in Rosso and in Coffee.
From looking over the reviews on Zappos, people seem to have a love 'em or hate 'em relationship with Earth Shoes. Moreover, it seems to be style-dependent. But for this Mary Jane girl, it's definitely a love 'em relationship with the Solar style.

I have a pair of Rocket Dogs that look very similar, but without the Earth Shoe design perks. And no, I don't count what you've euphemistically termed rude suction-y sounds among the perks. :)
I love those Rocket Dogs - I've wanted a pair forever, but never was able to find them in my size (in black leather, not the vegan stuff).
As for the perks - I've gotta say (and sit down, this is shocking) the Earth shoes are equally comfortable and supportive as my Danskos. And, they have the added bonus of providing less distance for klutzes like me to fall.
What's really funny is how people have described those rude suction-y sounds in the Zappos reviews! Some folks are far, far less into the euphemisms than me, preferring to just tell it like it is.
I JUST bought a pair of these. I'm now thinking I need a couple more pairs, but we'll see. I ended up with the red leather Solar style, but I love the Mary Janes you have in your most recent post. I'm off to browse Sierra Trading post!

I've been looking all over for a pair of Earth Solar in red leather, to no avail - every time I find them for a good price, my size is sold out.
I just ordered the red Cassandra style from Sierra Trading. I hope they're as comfortable as the Solar.
