QotD: Midway Through

That doesn't seem fair to change culminating requirements for students who've already been in a program for quite some time. I'm a graduate student at SFSU, and they stick to the requirements dictated by the Catalog from the year that you were admitted.

Can you challenge the change in requirements? That does seem fair at all, but then again, academia isn't always fair.

A bunch of us thought it didn't seem fair at all, either, and wanted to challenge it. What we were told was that since the change supposedly reflects competencies that we should have learned regardless of the courses we chose, then we should be able to complete the new requirements. Perhaps not in a single semester, though, and *of course* we're welcome to pay for the culminating class again and re-take it until we demonstrate satisfactory competency... Grrrr!

I'm just trying to stay focused on being *done*, whatever it takes.

My co-worker is also going through this in the Fall. Pretty damn crappy if you ask me. I don't complain about my CE any longer (SJSU MLIS 2003).

Just wanted to say "Good Luck." I just joined vox today and found your lovely shoes.
